Prayer has power to change things!!!!🙏🤲❤

Prayer is truly one of the most amazing things that God has given us. It is direct communication with God. It is you letting God know your personal problems, situations, or concerns. But choosing to give them to him and not carry the weight of the problem all by yourself. I have learned that God wants to help us in life. He has a great plan for all of our lives individually and we as believers of God are all a part of that plan. God has to help us he knew that we would need help. This is one thing I truly love about God he is always there to help us no matter what the situation or circumstance is. I have found out through praying to God he will show up in ways we could never imagine.

What is prayer?

According to the dictionary, it is a spiritual communion with God or an object of worship, as in supplication, thanksgiving, adoration, or confession. When I researched the definition, I was so surprised to find out that it is also an act of worship to our father. The Bible says that this is the will of God concerning our lifestyles. Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship Romans 12:1 NIV.

What will prayer do?

Prayer will change things I have learned through developing my own personal relationship with God. It is the most powerful thing that we have access to. I think about it as the key to heaven. Because our Father is in heaven making intercession for his children. Romans 8:34 Who is the one who condemns us? Christ Jesus is the One who died [to pay our penalty], and more than that, who was raised [from the dead], and who is at the right hand of God interceding [with the Father] for us. God is waiting for us as his children to pray about whatever it is that is concerning us. He knows that we will have trouble along this journey of life with or without His help. But I am so thankful that God wants to help us in this dark and evil world we live in. The Bible even refers to prayer as a weapon. It is one of the Armour of God! Ephesians 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people. I have learned to pray about everything and not hold anything back. This leads me to talk about how important it is to build a prayer life. As in some of my previous blogs I mentioned that I prayer journal. Prayer journaling for me has been so beneficial and I wish that I would have started sooner. It’s basically getting all of your thoughts out and being completely honest with God. It’s a very simple process all you need to do is buy a notebook or find a journal at a local store such as Walmart or a Christian-based bookstore. Or you can use a document like Microsoft Word or google docs. I currently use Google Docs because it's easiest for me. But you get the picture, just start writing whatever comes to your mind and do this in the morning when you wake up and when you go to bed or try to do it as often as possible. It will be so helpful I love prayer journaling and you will be surprised about the results you will see from doing it.

Is your prayer life hot or cold?

The reason why I ask if your prayer life is hot or cold is that we have a real enemy who is after everything that we care about or love in life. He wants to play on our insecurities if we have any and make up many lies against us. The Bible says that the devil is the accuser of brethren meaning that he is going to make many accusations against us to try to make us confused through lies that we never created. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom (dominion, reign) of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come; for the accuser of our [believing] brothers and sisters has been thrown down [at last], he who accuses them and keeps bringing charges [of sinful behavior] against them before our God Day and night.”

When we pray, we come against all accusations and lies because God will fight on behalf of us as his children through our prayers. That’s how much he cares about us. I have learned that the enemy wants us as believers to think that God is not on our side, but that is a lie, and we have to learn to resist the devil so he will flee from us. One of my favorite scriptures is James 4:7 So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. Yes, all of the devil's lies and evil schemes will flee from you. We have to pray and believe by faith that God is going to answer our prayers. I think about the scene from the movie war room where the lady in the movie asked Priscilla Shirer what was her prayer life like was it hot or cold? The answer to that would determine how much she was allowing versus what she was doing about it through the power of God in prayer. Which is available for every believer. I love what God has done for us. He sent his son to die for us so that we could come into a relationship with the Father who created us. So that we could receive what God always wanted to give us from the very being which was dominion and increase. It is God’s will that we gain victory over everything that tries to hinder our destiny and purpose in life. God wants to prosper us in every way you can think of because he loves us.

We can’t be afraid to pray!

I have learned that fear is not of God in any way. Fear will cause us to doubt God and question what he has already told us that he would do for us. Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real this lets me know that it comes from the enemy. When we listen to or believe something that isn’t real, we are walking into deception. So, it is best to choose to believe God and pray while not being afraid to pray for someone or something. I was asked this week to pray for someone that was truly in need of prayer. I have learned to be led by the Holy Spirit when I pray for anything. God gave me the right words to pray and reminded me of the testimony that I shared with someone of how God raised my mother and baby sister up when they were fighting for their lives in the ICU room due to a 5 car accident. Which I mention on the ministry website. After praying for this individual, I could hear God letting me know that he was going to perform a miracle and the person asking me to pray would see the miracle as well. We have to pray no matter what the situation is. It is a weapon against the enemy and his lies. I encourage you to pray for the things you need in your life for God to do.

Righteous living is required for God to move on behalf of our prayers.

One of my favorite scriptures is James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. This means that God’s power is made available to us when we are living a righteous life and are seeking his will, purpose, and plan for our lives. According to Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. This helps us to understand that righteousness is required for God to bless us and answer our prayers. Sometimes God will make us wait, but through the waiting, I have learned that God is teaching us patience. So I encourage you to live right. What is righteousness? According to the dictionary, it is the quality or state of being righteous; holiness; purity; upright; rectitude. Righteousness, as used in Scripture and theology, in which it chiefly occurs, is nearly equivalent to holiness, comprehending holy principles and affections of heart, and conformity of life to the divine law. This definition also explains it even better: The state of being right with God; justification; the work of Christ, which is the ground justification.

Wow! This is truly amazing its God working on the inside causing us to be more like him in thought, word, and character through actions.

God’s power is made available through our prayers!!!

When we pray, we cause heaven to react on our behalf. God wants you and I to pray and thank Him in advance for answering our prayers. I have learned that when we have this mindset God will honor our faith and work on our prayers. We have to understand that we cannot please God without having faith that he will do what we ask. The bible lets us know that without faith we can’t please our Father who is in heaven right now. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. I absolutely love this scripture because this means that after we pray, we can expect that He is going to answer our prayers in His timing. I looked up the word power and it means the capacity for being acted upon or undergoing an effect. Then I looked up the word capacity which is the ability to receive or contain. How can we receive something from God if we don’t expect that he is going to do it? God is more than able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ever ask or think. According to God’s power that is at work within us as his children. Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. How is this possible Jesus? Because we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Jesus left us the comforter who is our biggest helper John 16:5-7 But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts [and taken complete possession of them]. 7But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. I do feel led to pray for anyone that is struggling in their prayer life. If you feel like God isn’t answering your prayer and you are beginning to doubt. I want to pray for you. Father God in the mighty name of Jesus I am praying for the one that is doubting you and is struggling to believe that you can do what they are asking you to do. Father, please grant them their request so that you can increase their faith and make them believe you through a miracle. Lord, we thank you in advance for helping them just like you did David. Help their unbelief and we ask all of these things in your son Jesus name we pray AMEN!

Love your sister, Teyla Wilson
